CCTI, Inc. provides the following information pertaining to the Periodic Personnel Platform (man basket) Inspection.
OSHA 29-CFR 1926.1431, ASME B30.23, CSAW59, and AWS D14.3 require inspections for hoisting employees using a personnel platform on a regular basis.
CCTI, Inc. will assist you in complying with the requirements for your company through correct design, engineering, and operating procedures. We can provide you with this inspection and manufacturing service based on being qualified/trained/certified as a manufacturer and inspection company. All equipment used in the lifting of personnel shall be inspected, tested, and maintained to protect against failure during lifting operations. Inspections shall be performed by a designated person. Deficiencies identified shall be examined and a determination made by a qualified person as to whether they constitute a hazard.
Frequency of inspections are as follows: Initial, Frequent and Periodic
Initial: Prior to initial use and at each new job site, all platforms shall be inspected to verify compliance with the provisions of this volume.
Frequent: The platform, suspension system, attachment points, and any platform motion controls shall be inspected at least once each day before use.
Periodic: At least once every 12 months, or as required by the platform manufacturer, a periodic inspection of the platform shall be performed in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Platforms that have been out of service for 12 or more consecutive months shall receive a periodic inspection prior to use.
